California Native Plants Open House & Garden Walk

Sat, October 9, 2021, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Enjoy the warm fall colors at the Laguna Environmental Center while learning about California native plants! California natives are optimal for saving water and creating habitat for wildlife, and our first open house since the pandemic will celebrate our incredible native flora during fall planting season. You can shop for new additions to your garden at the CNPS Milo Baker plant sale, where plants are grown by dedicated CNPS Milo Baker volunteers in our shared nursery. Once you’ve shopped at the plant sale, join us in the LEC landscape at 11:00am for a guided walk with CNPS volunteers and Laguna Foundation staff about planting and maintenance in a native plant garden. It will also be a great opportunity to see the new Heron Hall art exhibit, “The Russian River and its Watershed” by Richard McDaniel. Bring a picnic lunch, buy books from the CNPS Education table, and mingle with Laguna Foundation staff and volunteers for a full day enjoying the Laguna!
We are proud to offer this event in collaboration with our local partners. The Milo Baker Chapter of the California Native Plant Society will be selling native plants at our shared nursery from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Buy a few to take home, thereby supporting our local California Native Plant Society chapter while nurturing local wildlife habitat in your own backyard.
Guided garden walk begins at 11:00am. Attendance will be first come, first serve.
Free (suggested donation $5 – $20).
