Convergence: An Imagined Musical Conversation Between Nina Simone and Mary Lou Williams

Wed, March 31, 2021, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Convergence is a jazz concert and a dramatization celebrating Women’s History Month. This unique project was created and conceived by Healdsburg Jazz’s 2021 Artist in Residence Tammy L. Hall, featuring pianists Victoria Theodore and Tammy in an imagined musical conversation between legends Nina Simone and Mary Lou Williams.
Tammy L. Hall and Victoria Theodore are accompanied by Sylvia Cuenca on drums and Ruth Davies on bass, and with actress and Spoken Word artist Ryan Nicole Austin, who narrates the story of a fictitious meeting in a hotel lobby between these two iconic pianists.
Artistic Director Marcus Shelby will make a live introduction to this concert, which was filmed at the Opus Studio in Oakland by NorthStarr Media Group, directed by Kevin Johnson.
