Dia de los Muertos Windsor 2021

Dia de los Muertos Windsor
Sat, October 30, 2021, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on the Windsor Town Green is back and better than ever this year on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The evening kicks off with a Lowrider Car Show on Market Street, food and drink vendors, craft and art vendors, traditional “calaveras” face painting, and music.

Performances on the Town Green stage include Luther Burbank Center’s Mariachi Ensemble and the Ballet Folklorico Jazmin — both youth performing arts groups. A key element of Dia de los Muertos Windsor returns as well: the traditional indiginous blessing ceremony and dance by Danza Xantotl at dusk, followed by an (electric) candlelight procession around the green.

This year’s theme is “Entierra La Pandemia” — Bury the Pandemic. You don’t have to be Latinx to enjoy Windsor’s Dia de los Muertos events. All are welcome at this family-friendly celebration honoring past generations.

The event is free and family-friendly, as it has been since 2011. The nonprofit Dia de los Muertos Windsor organization is encouraging those interested to join their website emailing list or follow their Facebook page to receive any last-minute notifications or cancellations due to Covid-19 requirements or any other unforseen events.
