A Songwriters evening with Sheila Tracey, Kevin Russell and Friends – EP Release Party

Thu, November 14, 2019, 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Sheila Tracey’s music career began early in life. “At the age of five, I had my barbie dolls performing mini operas” she recalls. She started her first band, The Bunnies at age 7. “My favorite part of performing was being able to wear my sister’s wig, it made me feel like Ginger Grant” she says with a smile. Since that auspicious beginning, Sheila has gone on to forge her way through many aspects of the music business including singer, talent buyer, artist manager, record label partner and owner of a roadhouse tavern. Sheila has now come full circle and is back to her creative roots. She started writing songs in late 2018. “It all started after the Carr Fire in Redding, CA which burned down a third of my neighborhood. I was evacuated and a song started coming to me one night as I lay wide awake in my hotel bed at 3:00am. The song had nothing to do with the fire but for some reason the experience opened a new door in my life and now I find myself releasing an EP!” Her partner in crime is Kevin Russell whose musical talent brought the songs to life and “special thanks to Foxes In The Henhouse, Mary Gannon Graham, Blair Hardman, Spencer Burrows and Sean Allen who all showed up to ride the ride with me”. Her music is a mix of americana, country, pop and folk styles. Her voice is reminiscent of Lucinda Williams and Roseanne Cash, it is honest and real. Sheila says, “The theme of “Broken Compass” is leaving and the fall out that comes with that; loss, regret, empowerment, determination. It’s been an amazing experience exploring this creative side of myself. My hope is that my songs resonate and create a connection to my fellow humans. I would like that.”

Kevin Russell is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He performs regularly in a number of Sonoma county’s most popular bands.
