NOVEMBER EXHIBIT: HANGING OUT

Reception: November 5, 2022, from 4 to 6 pm: Celebrate the show with artists Tosya Shore and Beverly Bird. Light refreshments will be served.
Local artist, Tosya Shore, presents Hanging Out, a collection of watercolor paintings from her unique Laundry Series. The artist loves wandering through the back streets of European towns, snapping images of laundry flapping in the breeze. She then translates these images to paintings that take the viewer to these niches of vibrant color and life. Fluid shapes of laundry dance against background geometric forms. “I love the juxtaposition of the architectural shapes against the flopping shapes of laundry,” noted Shore. This series was inspired by a scene in Rovinj, Croatia.
Shore’s love for her medium, watercolor, shines forth in her spirited, bright bold work. Over twenty years ago, she began painting and credits her teachers with helping her persevere. She explains, “I enjoy the process and let go of the results as it became my passion.” She has exhibited in the region including participation in Art Trails.

The Upstairs Art Gallery welcomes local painter and new member Luba Stolper, a painter whose passion for art comes to life in oil paintings reminiscent of the Old Masters. Focusing on Still Life, each of Stolper’s paintings is a stunning masterpiece. From her childhood in Ukraine, the artist showed an early interest in art. She has pursued her artistic studies seriously, including at the Fabric &Textile Design School in Berkeley, studies in Florence, Italy, and with master artists including Charles Becker and the ArtHaus Atelier with instructors Naomi Marino and Jay Blums. She has exhibited nationally and locally, including with Art at the Source.
Meet the Artst: Luba Stolper will be hosting the gallery November 12 & 18, 2:30 – 6 and November 29, 11am – 2:30 pm.
The Staircase Showcase presents Beverly Bird’s Seas, Trees and Vines, a collection of small paintings inspired by Sonoma’s abundant natural beauty. From the dramatic seascapes to the redwoods and colorful vineyards the region seems to have it all. “Just looking out my window makes me want to pick up my paint brushes. We artists are blessed to have endless subject matter at our doorstep,” said Bird.
