For over 3 decades, Andre’ Russell has been a key member of Midnight Sun. The band has generously played many benefit concerts over the years and this time, it is for one of the founding members of Midnight Sun.
On August 12, Andre’ was rear-ended on his motorcycle on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa. His motorcycle got stuck under the front of the other vehicle and was pushed 270 feet in a straight line as he held on to the handlebars. Miraculously, he never dropped his Harley Davidson!
When the SUV that hit him finally stopped, the driver ran on foot from the accident scene. The passenger got out of the car and was immediately killed by another driver who tried to swerve out of the way of the initial crash site. The law enforcement helicopter was dispatched and the driver of the SUV was arrested for two felonies: 1) Hit & Run and 2) DUI.
It took a lot of convincing for Andre’ to let his friends have this benefit concert for him. He is humble and does not want the spotlight on him because of this tragedy; however, the reality is that Andre’ needs some financial help because he is self-employed and does not have paid sick and vacation time. Andre’ insisted that some of the proceeds be donated to a non-profit to help victims of drunk drivers. The non-profit beneficiary is the Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County so, they can create a project around the dangers of drunk driving.
Join us as we raise funds for Andre’…
