Saffire Bouchelion, an internationally performing percussionist, will share original poetry and the enchanting sounds of HandPan drumming from his CD “HandSight” along with mesmerizing Portland Poet, Karen Hery, creating magic back and forth with spoken word.
These West Coast Poetry Tour traveling poets will perform a full show and also host an open mic portion of the evening.
Plan to sit back, relax and enjoy the show and consider bringing your own offerings of spoken word, music and song – original pieces and/or performed works by others are both welcome.
Saffire says, “I have been playing these beautiful hand pan instruments for over 7 years. Their depth and range never cease to amaze me. Their sound is alchemical in nature, like metal becoming water, becoming air, which has a very interesting effect on the listener, relaxing and trance like while being activating at the same time. I’m so excited to share this sonic journey with you.”
Karen has been performing original spoken word poetry for the past decade becoming a published poet in the EcoSexuality movement, leading shows and open mics on the West Coast Poetry Tour from San Diego to Seattle for the past 6 years.
Karen says, “EcoSexuality is a social movement focused on treating the earth more as our lover than our mother for better treatment of the planet and each other. Let’s all fall deeper in love with the earth and each other while listening to Saffire’s beautiful music and sharing poetry together.”
Suggested offering $10 per person, or $20 for admission and the “Handsight” hand pan CD.
Tea and some light snacks will be served. Feel free to bring savory or sweet munchies to share and any drinks you’d like other than tea.
