Immunity Boosting thought Nature – Elderberry and Fire Cider

Now is the time to prepare your wellness routine for the coming cold and flu season! Spend an evening with local herbalist Autumn Summers, who will equip you with the knowledge you need to craft your own fire cider and elderberry remedies. Featuring apple cider vinegar and a range of zesty ingredients which you can assemble at home, fire cider is much loved in herbal medicine. We will explore the immune and circulatory system benefits of this warming health tonic, as well as its applications and fun recipe variations. From Europe to the Americas, elderberry is a plant revered by all cultures that have the good fortune to have it growing nearby, including our local Wappo, Pomo and Coast Miwok tribes. Elderberry is rich in lore and one of the most popular herbal medicines of our day. We will unravel some of its mysteries and set the record straight about it being a poisonous plant. Learn how to identify, ethically and sustainably harvest, and use the fruits of the beautiful Blue Elderberry growing in Sonoma County.

From her first herb class over 25 years ago, Autumn has been exploring the many facets of herbalism. An avid gardener and wild foods forager, she teaches on how to grow your own herbs and how to safely and sustainably gather and use abundant edible and medicinal plants, seaweeds and mushrooms in Northern California at the California School of Herbal Studies. She is passionate about sharing this empowering knowledge with others in a responsible and interactive way.

This class will consist of a live multimedia presentation and include interactive time for Q&A.

This class will be recorded, however it will not be posted publicly. The recording will only be available to those who have registered.

Autumn will be teaching another class in this special series on September 22: An Abundance of Fall Edibles – From Acorns to Bay Nuts. Click here to register today!
