Join naturalist Laura Wagner on the 27th day of the 7th month for a moderately-paced hike to discover the park’s rich natural beauty and historical legacy through 7 distinct trails, 7 remarkable sites, and 7 key learnings.
Participants will traverse 3.5 to 4 miles of the park’s 29+ miles of trails, ranging from easy walks through historic ranch land to moderate climbs with views. Each trail offers a blend of ecological wonder and cultural heritage, while each site provides a learning opportunity inspired by the innovations of Jack London and the glory of nature.
Trails will include the Redwood Grove Path (immersed in towering redwoods), Lake Spur and Upper Lake (climbing), Mountain, Old Fallen Bridge, New Fallen Bridge, Quarry and Vineyard Loop (up and down) and Historic Trails (mostly flat).
Each trail highlights a site tied to Jack London’s life or the park’s natural beauty, including the Eucalyptus Grove/Cactus Garden “projects,” Winery Ruins and Cottage Gardens, the Pig Palace,
London Lake, Dam and Bath House, a Fairy Ring in the Redwood Forest and May’s Clearing.
Each site and trail is paired with a learning theme, such as the resilience and vision of Jack London as a pioneer, the importance of sustainable agriculture and land stewardship and much more.
