Canceled – Sonoma Arts Live presents the musical Daddy Long Legs

Fri, March 13, 2020, 7:30 pm

From the Tony-Award winning director of Les Misérables comes the intimate new musical Daddy Long Legs, directed by Sonoma Arts Live favorite Michael Ross (My Fair Lady, Hello, Dolly!, and Gypsy, to name a few).
Based on the classic novel which inspired the 1955 movie starring Fred Astaire — a beloved tale in the spirit of Jane Austen, the Brontë Sisters, and “Downton Abbey” — this heartwarming Cinderella story about a witty and winsome young woman and her mysterious benefactor has charmed audiences of all ages from Los Angeles to London. Set in turn-of-the-century New England, the musical tells the story of orphan Jerusha Abbott of the John Grier Home and her mysterious benefactor, who agrees to send her to college, and whom she dubs “Daddy Long Legs” after seeing his elongated shadow. Under the conditions of her benefactor, Jerusha sends him a letter once a month, describing her newfound experiences with life outside the orphanage.

Opening night, Thursday, February 27, will feature a reception at 6:30pm in the Rotary Lounge, followed by the show at 7:30. Performances continue on Thursday-Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Saturday & Sunday matinees at 2:00 through March 8. For more information and tickets, go to www.sonomaartslive.org.
