Jack London Short Story Read Aloud at Jack London State Historic Park

Sun, October 10, 2021, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

It has been said, “The greatest story Jack London ever wrote was the story he lived” a statement that is hard to argue. In the Tales of the Fish Patrol, a collection of seven short stories, London recounts his teenage exploits as an oyster pirate turned fish patroller on the waterways of the San Francisco, San Pablo, and Suisun bays during the late nineteenth century. He was tired of working long hours at an Oakland cannery for 12 cents an hour; the fifteen-year-old London longed for adventure and an opportunity to make much more money.

Learn about a young Jack London and his times when Jeff Falconer brings London’s story alive with a lively reading from the Tales of the Fish Patrol followed by a discussion of the story. If you have previously heard Jeff read other Jack London stories, you already know you can expect an amazing experience!
A good read for all ages!
